Why does skin need hyaluronic acid?
Short answer:
The skin's own hyaluronic acid can bind many times its own weight in water and visibly plumps up the skin's surface. It supports a plump, smooth skin appearance – especially when combined with lipids (oils) that retain moisture in the skin.
The skin produces its own hyaluronic acid – and breaks it down again
Our skin produces its own hyaluronic acid daily. At the same time, it is continuously broken down again, among other things by enzymes (hyaluronidases), UV light, and inflammatory processes. With increasing age, the total amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases. The consequence is less elasticity, a faster feeling of tightness, and a drier skin sensation.
Why more hyaluronic acid in skincare makes sense with increasing age
Compensating for natural decline
Topically applied hyaluronic acid helps to bind moisture to the skin's surface and in the stratum corneum.
Immediately visible plump effect
Fine lines appear smoother, the skin looks plumper and fresher.
More comfort for dry skin
In combination with lipids like jojoba oil or almond oil, the bound moisture is retained longer in the skin.
What hyaluronic acid does for the skin
Immediate effect
The skin feels smoother, feelings of tightness visibly decrease.
Protection through moisture film
Hyaluronic acid forms a light film on the skin, which reduces transepidermal water loss.
Excellent for combination
It can be easily combined with almost all active ingredients, including treasures often used at Queen of Green such as vitamin E, coconut and calendula extract, and phytosteryl macadamiate.
Frequent questions about hyaluronic acid
Can hyaluronic acid have a drying effect?
Generally no. An exception can arise if it is applied to very dry skin without protective oils or fats. This won't happen to you with our Queens.
Does hyaluronic acid tolerate acids or vitamin C?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid is pH-insensitive and therefore very compatible.
Is hyaluronic acid suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. Since it occurs naturally in the skin, it is generally very well tolerated. Our ultra-low molecular weight hyaluronic acid provides long-lasting moisture and plump skin.
Our Hyaluronic Acid Queens: In the repairing lip care "Sleepy Sophie", hyaluronic acid ensures smoother, visually slightly plumped lips.
Because hyaluronic acid also works wonders against small dryness lines on the hands, it is also a must in our hand care "Ageless Alice".
